About Altair Books
Altair Australia Books was established in 2004 to bring to light some of the lesser known works of Australia's and the World's leading writers in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror; be it short stories or commentary. Our first three releases show the eclectic nature of the venture and the quality of our books. With the help of Rob Parnell of Magellan Books and the industry contacts of Robert N Stephenson of Altair Australia Pty Ltd,the new Altair Australia Books imprint will fill a desperate need in the small press market place.Using Print on Demand technology has enabled us to produce the small numbers of books required for the niche market of short story and commentary, while still giving a relatively good return to our authors. With every good return from a known writer's books we will be able to launch the career of a new author, be it with a novel length work or a collection of genre short stories.
You won't find an Altair Australia Book in a bookstore, as POD doesn't carry physical stock but we are still working on Amazon and Barnes and Noble e-stores to gain listing and some sale and distribution foothold (small press is a tough game), but for the benefit of the author a direct purchase from us guarantees a deserved return for the author's work (45% of each sale goes directly to the author). No real middle man to take a cut, so to speak.
All Altair Australia Books are of high standard and even award winning quality. We won't sell you a dud story.
